So I went to Toronto’s pride parade today. I was glad to see contingents from more-0r-less all parties in the parade today; Green, NDP, Liberal, and PC. I almost had a chance to have a picture with Jack Layton today. Just before I got to the front of the line he decided he needed to go for a beer. Unfortunate for me, but he should be allowed. He is only human too.

My pride and joy today was meeting Elizabeth May and shaking her hand. After telling her how glad I was that she was at Toronto pride and in the parade, she excalimed how she loved pride week and has made quite an effort to be here the last number of years. The gentleman she was with was so kind to give me the green party t-shirt he walked the pride parade wearing.

Thank you Elizabeth May, thank you Jack Layton! Both your parties are the essence of what I belive in and it is a hard decision come election time.

They spread lies. They spread hate. Doesn’t Canada deserve a better Prime Minister than this?

Last I checked, the proposed coalition was between the Liberals and NDP. All the Bloc party has to do with the alliance is that they have promised in writing to allow the coalition to function. Tell me Harper, like I am a 2 year old, how does this coalition involve giving more power to the Bloc?

Also, Mr Haper, why do you keep referring to the Bloc party as “the separtist Bloc”? The voice in your ads say it like it is some sort of disease taking over the nation. I assure you Harper, they are not a disease. Does Canada really need a Prime Minister who spreads hate like this? Perhaps the Bloc are right to want to leave, with the Prime Minister of Canada shitting on them like this and all, who wouldn’t want to leave in that scenario?

I don’t really have time to find external links, so I leave this as an exercise to the reader.

Didn’t we already give Bell a whack of money to implement broadband to all Canadians? We need to enforce that they provide broadband internet to rural areas, NOT give Bell more money intended for rural broadband which will just be wasted away again. IIRC, the CRTC is subsidising Bell’s infrastructure costs and requiring them to provide the GAS (Gateway Access Service) to their ADSL competition. Bell still refuses to provide access to many areas until the residents can prove there is enough guarantee of profit for it to be worthwhile for Bell. Why are they being allowed to use subsidised funds in this way Mr Harper?

Canada has already given satellite providers money to launch satellites intended to provide internet access to the territories up North. IIRC, original programs in this initiative were abused to sell internet and TV access to other countries as it was more profitable.

Hat tip to Saskboy’s post which reminded me to post about this.

A couple days ago I read on CBC that Harper plans to re-introduce his copyright reform if he’s elected. Harper claims that his legislation “strikes the appropriate balance among the rights of musicians, artists, programmers and other creators and brings Canada’s intellectual property protection in line with that of other industrialized countries, but also protects consumers who want to access copyright works for their personal use.” This is not what bill C-61 did and Canadians made that clear to Harper over the summer. Why does Harper want to bring this back to the table and take away Canadians’ digital rights?

Don’t let Harper’s Conservatives into Ottawa again; protect your digital freedom!

When I woke up to the radio this morning I heard quite the interesting Conservative attack ad. Harper’s ad was attacking Dion directly. The ad attacked the environmental levies that the Liberals have proposed in connection to the recent economic turmoil which Harper’s government has failed to do anything about. The ad complained of more taxes and that taxes are the last thing Canada needs right now.

What the ad failed to mention is all of the income tax breaks that the Liberals are suggesting. ALL of the imposed taxes will be offset by tax cuts. I urge you to go to thegreenshift.ca and learn for yourself the proposed Liberal plan. Don’t listen to Harper’s lies.
